Hi Bay to Birdwood participants, followers and fans 2020 has certainly been a challenging year for many of us.

True to its name, the event had started in the chilly pre-dawn hours just blocks from Adelaide’s glittering beaches. Most of the cars started from this point, which would be about 1,750 cars, all parked on an oval with the concourse, the preservation cars in the middle and the Minis, as they were celebrating 60 years of the Mini, as were the Harlingen 4 x 4 made by Steyer Puch. The Bay to Birdwood starts at Barratt Reserve, West Beach and will finish at the National Motor Museum at Birdwood in the Adelaide Hills on Sunday, 29 September 2019. The inaugural Bay to Birdwood was held on Sunday 28 September 1980.

Now in its 37th year the Bay to Birdwood Run is a car show, challenging road drive, fashion show and history lesson combined into a journey and destination like no other in the world.

Many drivers dress in attire to match the period of their vehicle.

The Classic run was officially established in 2001, although there were two Classic runs held under the full direction of the National Motor Museum in 1997 and 1999; it focuses on motorcars and motorbikes produced between 1 January 1956 and 31 December 1986.
